Your battery has five states of charge ...

1. Full Charge

At the top stage you are fully energized and you are meeting all your goals life is just grand you can’t perceive it getting any better. Everything you set out to do is completed easily and seemingly effortlessly. Your time has come.

2. Charged

As you draw a little more out of it you are still charged. You are doing well, you just know that something could be added or something is missing a little bit but generally a very good state to be in.

3.  50%  Charge

As you draw a little more out, you start moving into a discharged state and this is the state. This is where the warning light comes on.

You know you are in this state if you’re frequently feeling tired, stressed, overwhelmed and just like you can’t seem to catch up. You are still doing OK, but if you don’t recharge from this state quickly it is a very fast discharge to the next state which is  a low battery state. You have had to drop some of the lessor important things because you just don’t have the energy for it.

4.  Low Charge

As you draw a little more out, you move into the low charge state. You know you are in this state if you’re feeling tired, stressed, overwhelmed and just like you can’t seem to catch up - most of the time.  You are in an almost constant state of fatigue, you are struggling to keep up. You have had to drop some things, many important things, because you just don’t have the energy for it. This is like  the state where your cell phone asks to switch the low power mode because it simply cannot do all the tasks it is programmed to do.

If you don't drastic action at this stage you fall to the final stage very quickly.

5.  Drained

This is burn out! You not only have constant fatigue, you have no energy, you have no interest in anything. Nothing excites you, nothing gets done and no matter how hard you try you can’t motivate yourself to do anything.

You have no energy for yourself, your family or your career. Nothing!

It is a long way back from this state. In my first burnout it took me 8 weeks to get back to work. I was back in six weeks for the second although it was months before I was back to full capacity.

That's why I do what I do; I don't want to see anyone, ever reach this state. The land of the zombie.
