Public Perception of Educators

As I work with more teachers I find that teachers are now feeling even less respected and valued by the general public. On one of the forums BayStreetBoy was appalled by the fact that teachers could possibly complain when they were working 6 hours a day, six months of the year teaching kids their ABCs and to count to 10. And for this they got $80/year.

Do you find this to be a general perception?

Is this view increasing?

Is this a view of parents or of only those without kids.

Thanks for the feedback.
